In short

A local currency virtual card is a card issued in a specific country that holds that country's currency, for paying services that bill locally or expect a card from that country. When a local card helps

Some services bill in a local currency, and some expect a card issued in the same country as your account. A card from that country, in its currency, matches what the service expects and avoids a currency conversion on every payment.

Choosing a country and network

Local cards are labelled with their country, so you can search for a country such as Turkey or Japan and compare the cards on offer. Pick a network the service accepts: Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted, while JCB, UnionPay and Maestro suit services in their home markets.

Using the card

Add the card in the service's payment settings with the number, expiry date, CVV and billing details from My cards. Local cards are for legitimate payments only, not a way around a service's country rules.
